Entitled “My Commitment as a Christian,” this powerful statement by a young African pastor in Zimbabwe was found among his papers after he was martyred for the Gospel. May we all be filled with his zeal in 2025!
I am a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I’m a disciple of His and I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power.
My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road is narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my Guide is reliable and my mission is clear.
I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won’t give up, shut up, or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He will have no problems recognizing me. My banner will be clear!
Isn’t that powerful? This pastor was not a “fair weather”, “what’s in it for me?” Christian. He was All In! He was fully surrendered to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. Like John the Baptist pleaded (John 3:30), “He (Jesus) must increase; I must decrease.”
Are you ready to surrender everything to Jesus, to lay it all at His feet (your life and everything you are) today and every day of 2025? I pray this is true for you and me. May Jesus Christ be glorified and exalted (lifted up) by Everything we say and do each day. May He alone receive All the glory!
We will begin 2025 this Sunday, January 5, in a Big way with the challenge to “Believe for Greater Things!” from John 14:12-14 where Jesus gives us a Huge promise, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” Please invite someone to join you this Sunday in the building or online for the Live broadcast on either Facebook (Honolulu AG) or our YouTube channel (Honolulu Assembly of God). We Livestream every Sunday to both locations and would love to have you join us.
Coming Up: If you are new to Honolulu Assembly of God and/or are curious about church membership, the “Joy of Belonging” classes will be held the four Sundays in January at 9:30am. It features inspiration and information that every Christian should know, starting with this Sunday’s class, “Your Glorious New Life in Christ!” Let’s start the New Year Big by joining with other churches all across our nation for the national Week of Prayer, January 5-11. Our next “Drive-Through Prayer” outreach in the church parking lot is this Saturday, January 4, from 11am to 1pm. Please join us in prayer for hurting and needy people in our community.
Aloha ke Akua!
